open-bytes: the project

open-bytes is an editorial project (ISSN 3042-7789) concerned with non-technical digital literacy and the making of open-access resources for curious humans.
Its first publication is the glossary, edited by Mario Valori, fully available from June 2026.

About the editor

Mario Valori holds an LL.M. and an MPP, and has worked since 2012 on copyright and the law of new technologies.
He is a committed advocate of open access and open source, and writes here from a legal, ethical, and social perspective on AI rather than an engineering one.

In 2026, he has spoken on these questions at conferences hosted by Sapienza University of Rome (SIPEIA, 2 February), the British Shakespeare Association (27 February), the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (5 March), and the University of Florida (12 March).
